Admissions

Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. We therefore recommend that you make a visit where we can show you the facilities on offer at St Bernadette for your child and the care we have for your child.  Prospective parents can make an appointment to visit by contacting the school office. Each year we hold a general meeting for all parents and carers whose child is entering the school.

To apply for a school place at St Bernadette you need to complete and return the Bristol application form to the Local Authority. Details of closing dates are published in advance and parents need to return their applications by the given dates to ensure that consideration for a place is given on time. Full details of our admissions can be found within our admission policy below.

If you want to admit your child during a school year, please contact the school direct and we can inform you of the procedure.

2025.2026 Admissions Update

We are increasing our numbers on roll for Reception Class 2025.2026 from 30 to 60 for this year only due to demand.

Admissions for Reception

If you are applying for your child to start school in the following September, you will need to apply with Bristol City Council. Here is the link: https://www.bristol.gov.uk/schools-learning-early-years/primaryadmissions

If you are expressing a preference for a place for your child and wish to apply under criteria 1 to 3 or 5 to 8 of the admissions policy, you should return the documents below to the school office before the closing date. It is desirable to also return the Supplementary Information form.

  • Copy of baptism or certificate of reception into the Catholic Church.
  • A letter or document confirming membership of an Eastern Christian Church, a Christian denomination or other faith.

NOTE: When you complete the Local Authority Common Application Form, you must provide details of any siblings (brothers or sisters) who will be attending the school at the proposed time of admission. If this information is not provided, the school's admissions authority may not be able to place the application under the correct criterion.

In Year Admissions

If your child is already in another school and you would like them to transfer to St Bernadette, please call 0117 3772273 and speak to Miss Campbell. She will let you know if we have any space in the class that you need. If we do not have a space you can complete our In Year application form and be put on our waiting list.
