Our Values

In partnership with the Catholic Church, we ensure the development of the whole child within the Catholic Community.

We promote self esteem and respect for others. We promote tolerance and care for one another. We have a climate of co-operation and good relationships to ensure that the challenges of learning can be met with confidence. We promote the importance of forgiveness to build better relationships between people. We exercise fairness and equal opportunity in our relationships and activities. We inspire mutual trust and confidence through honesty. We promote self-belief and show consideration and understanding to others.

St Bernadette Primary School promotes high achievement and learning for life by working with children to: 

  • Have a solid foundation in the teaching of the Catholic Faith.

We at St Bernadette Catholic Primary School aim to:

  • Give each child a firm foundation in Catholic values.
  • Value each child as an individual with a right to achieve and make progress.
  • Provide a calm, safe, happy and hard-working environment in which each child can develop.
  • Celebrate your child’s personal and academic achievements.
  • Build a partnership with parents/carers of each child.
  • Enable each child to participate in school life.

 

In accordance with these aims, our school will:

  • Promote the values of tolerance, respect and forgiveness in all aspects of school life.
  • Encourage your child to develop positive attitudes to others regardless of gender, race, culture, belief, age and need.
  • Encourage your child to be an active member within our community.
  • Inform parents of their child’s progress at regular intervals.
  • Inform parents/carers about what the school aims to teach the children.
  • Be happy to welcome you if you would like to contribute to the schools broader curriculum as we recognise that your talents, skills, experience diversity and enthusiasm will richly benefit our children.

 

As a Parent/Carer I will:

  • Encourage a positive attitude towards my child’s education.
  • Make sure my child attends school regularly, is on time and properly equipped with correct uniform and PE kit.
  • Attend meetings and provide regular support at home with homework and activities to help.
  • Let the school know of any concerns or worries that may be affecting my child’s well-being and learning.

 

Together we will:

  • Encourage children to play an active part in the life of the school
  • Support the child’s learning to help them achieve their very best.

 

As a pupil, I will:

  • Always try my best in all areas of school life.
  • Accept responsibility for the things that I do.
  • Talk to a member of staff if I am worried or unhappy.
  • Ask for help if I need it.
  • Behave appropriately and in a safe way.
  • Complete set homework tasks to the same standard as expected in classwork.
